“All great events always hang by a hair. The skillful man takes advantage of everything and neglects nothing that can give him a few more chances; the less skillful man, sometimes by neglecting a single one, loses everything.”
— Napoleon Bonaparte
“You have the right to perform your prescribed duties, but you are not entitled to the fruits of your actions. Never consider yourself the cause of the results of your activities, and never be attached to inaction.”
— Bhagavad Gita 2.47

Friction
There are two types of people in this world. The ones who seek happiness and the ones who seek excellence. There is no right or wrong here — both are at peace when they are seeking what they like to seek.

The (Lack of) Respect Fuels Ambition
I used to reject the idea that I needed external validation to feel happy, because I believed happiness was supposed to come from within. Later I accepted it reluctantly, telling myself that we all have our flaws and this was just one of mine. Now I see it differently. It is not a flaw at all.

When Work Stops Looking Like Work
We are entering a strange new period where the definition of work is being rewritten in real time. Activities that once felt like distractions are becoming central to how people create value, and activities that once symbolized work are starting to look outdated.

Impute: Perception and Opportunity
The marketing philosophy of Apple had three core pillars: empathy, focus and impute. Empathy and focus are talked to death in founder and VC conversations. However, one thing that people don’t often talk about is impute.

The Secondary Effect of AI: More Entrepreneurs
Every technological shift has a strange kind of second-order effect. With AI, everyone talks about productivity, cost savings, and automation. But the biggest effect won’t be inside large companies. It will be in how many more people decide to start something on their own.

Guide to hire developers as a Founder
This is the third time I am starting from scratch and looking to hire developers. The first time was in 2020, just out of college myself. Along with a friend, I filtered through a lot of LinkedIn profiles and took a lot of interviews to find a dev who was in the 2nd year of college. His name was Ashutosh, and he was a 10x dev (he got into MotorQ after he graduated). We hired a couple more fellows after that, but they weren’t as good.

Time Is Not Linear

Reflections 2021 and Goals 2022
As is said in classics, reflecting on the past leads to action in the future. The past year, as always, had exceptional results compared to the efforts I had put in and following are the things that I am most grateful for.

Story of a Billion Dreams
A fortnight ago, I and my friends went on a three-day trip to Bangalore. The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore was organising an entrepreneurship summit over the weekend. It was one of those rare occasions when even the most hodophobic person amongst us was excited about the trip. Though I must mention that I and my friends took this trip to savour two different career paths. My friends were excited to visit their dream institute whereas I was keen about interacting with various entrepreneurs there.

The Fall of AI
A Few decades ago when humans recognized the mystery of how the mind of the most intelligent species on the planet evolves, they probably invented something which is dubbed as last human invention needed ever.

There is an implausible set up of the technical education system in our country
While the capacity of the youth has helped the country to reach new heights, it is constantly being curbed by the prevalent system. For instance, after developing a fair interest in programming a student takes up science stream for his higher secondary education. Now apart for any Indian, the above sentence would seem quite juxtaposed. Why take science stream if you want to study programming? Here lies the unnoticed problem of our education system.
